Text on the drawing by Story People

With Valentines only 2 days before my birthday it seems kind of fitting to share these words from Story People with you.

After all, what better gift to wish for than lots of love for this upcoming birthday. Not just romantic love, but all kinds and shapes of love that give us meaning and purpose to live each day of our life with courage.

Stories you tell yourself

With Valentines day coming up soon I was reminded of pain and agony of my younger self when my hopes and dreams of being noticed by the boy I was absolutely sure I would love for-ever-and-ever-and-ever (if only he felt the same way) was sometimes unbearable.

Those days are now long gone, and I don't have to agonise about the boy any more :D But while doing the above drawing it occurred to me that that this type of agony might have been replaced by a different kind - the one where your most amazing inspirations and your heart's desires sometimes get totally ignored by what you consider to be your grown-up, mature and sensible self.

How many times have you had an idea that you really wanted to pursue but decided not to do anything about because it just wasn't sensible or realistic? Or maybe you've decided it was a good idea and you really will do something about it, but not now, now you're far too busy doing all the 'important' grown-up stuff and simply don't have time?

Maybe this Valentines day we should pay attention to our often un-noticed, ignored or silenced hart that's been trying to tell us how much they want us to take our chance with them and what they know for sure we really do desire.

And if we do, maybe it will ease the agonising we so often do when we find ourselves taking a path we didn't really want but took because it was a 'safe' option.

Of all the quotes and all the words written out there I think those words from Guillaume Apollinaire might just be the most wise and most useful of them all :)

While I'm waiting for this cold winter to finally go away and leave us alone I seem to be putting most things on pause until spring gets here. I've taken a long pause from most things, including blogging, and life seems to move at a much slower and happy pace.

How are you all getting through this winter? Are you enjoying a slower pace of life too?
