There are days when nothing I set out to draw seems to come out the way I intended. I finish one sketch and can't wait to flip the sketchbook page over to start a new one because the one I've just finished is about million miles away from what I wanted it to be.

I used to think that these kind of phases were a perfect sign that it's time to give up completely. But that was before I realised that pushing through these awkward times is what it's all about. That flicking over onto the new, clean page of the sketchbook is the best first move you can make to get out of the slump. Next step is to draw. And draw some more. Until you forget that you were ever in the slump in the first place.

Are you struggling with anything right now? Then maybe we could sing along to this together then :)

We all fight some kind of battle all the time. But what kind of battle are you fighting right now? Or are you just sitting and waiting to begin a fight but you're not sure you're ready for it or capable of it? Or that maybe you don't deserve what you want to fight for? These are tough questions not always easy to answer, but those are questions worth asking yourself.

This quick morning sketch was inspired by this advertising campaign by these awesome people:

Working my way through the "Book of wildlife animals" and filling my sketchbook with all sorts of wildlife. It must be the cold weather outside, making me wish that I could snuggle up just like these baby penguins. Spring, please come back.

This is absolutely brilliant:

Here's another poorly photographed page from my sketchbook, but never mind that. What's more important is that my sketch-books (yes, sketch-books, I have 4 on the go at the moment :)) is starting to fill up so fast I can barely keep up with photographing everything.

And that's all that matters rigt now. Putting in the work, putting in the hours of practice. Filling those sketchbook pages and learning, always learning. There are even some koalas and owls featuring in my sketchbook now and sketching something other than human faces is proving to be more fun than I could ever have imagined.

Title of this post was stolen directly from lovely Kat. I hope she'll forgive me for stealing it, but it's a title that so accurately captures how I feel when I'm sketching now and it's making all the difference.

Go and read Kat's post, you might find yourself nodding along and saying "Yup, I know exactly what you mean". Just don't tell her I stole her post title :)
